Landlords in Scotland are required to be registered with their local authority. With 700,000 people letting property, the Scottish Landlord Register is a means of finding out who is on the official register. This is a public register and provides private landlord registrations and property managers.

You can search the register to find out who manages a property, if the landlord is registered, and also what authority the property is in. A search can be conducted by either postcode or landlord registration number. To search by number you’ll need to have that information at hand first. Checking listings online beforehand for a property can provide you with such details. The other means is by postcode and address. You start by entering a postcode and the results provide a drop-down menu of all properties within that region. You select the property you are looking for information on and if any are available they will be provided.

The Scottish Landlord Register results include the registration number, local authority and the registered by name.
